Welcome to the M Palma Photo Blog

Hi, my name is Mike, a professional wedding and portrait photographer born, raised, and based here in beautiful, Silverlake, Los Angeles, California.

On this blog, you'll find the daily inspirations, images and musings of my life.

I love photographing people, places, and anything else that catches my eye. I describe my style of photography as modern, fun, and energetic. So stay a while, check out my work, and get to know me better through my images and entries.

If you'd like to visit my main wedding and portrait site, click on this link, or click on the "connect" button up top to drop me a line via e-mail.

Like I said, stay awhile, and enjoy the entries. And please, do leave a comment. You can also follow me on Facebook and Twitter (via the icons above this paragraph) for even more up-to-date happenings (don't worry, I won't put up meager posts like "I'm standing in line at Starbucks" (my favorite coffee spot!). Only the really cool and important stuff!)

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Thursday everyone! I think we’ve survived the late summer heat wave – whew! Can you believe it?! Man, Mother Nature. Give us a break will ya?!

It’s been a busy week. Photographed an amazing wedding (on a boat!) in Newport Beach on Saturday, then, the rehearsals for our friends over at Artists At Play, who are preparing to open up their third mainstage production called “Cowboy vs. Samurai”. The folks over at AAP ALWAYS put on a great production, so I urge you all to go and see this show! More details over at their page (right HERE). And if you already know how great their work is, go straight to their ticket page HERE!

Sunday’s photo shoot was for their archives and marketing purposes, and being good friends with the gang, I was able to incorporate an impromptu studio shoot with them. (Besides, I had all my gear in my car from the wedding the day before!). In between rehearsal sections, I took each of the actors aside to make a portrait of them, in character, with whatever prop they had around that would hint towards their role. This show has some pretty cool set pieces and props, so it made for a cool session.

All photos were taken with my Lastolite EZ-Box, Nikon flashes using CLS, and my 70-200mm lens.

A huge thanks to AAP and the actors for allowing me to photograph their rehearsal. Can’t wait to see it when it opens up, next week! You should too! Till next time… have a great week!
